What Are the Best Soundproof Panels for Bedrooms?
Updated
The best soundproof panels for bedrooms are fabric-wrapped fiberglass or mineral wool panels rated NRC 1.00 or higher, like GIK's 3.5 in. FlexRange Acoustic Panel at NRC 1.05. They'll take the echo out of a bare bedroom. They won't stop a neighbor or traffic, though. That takes sealing and mass.
GIK FlexRange
$119 list
2 x 4 ft and 3.5 in. thick, it hangs on the wall and rates NRC 1.05 (GIK (opens in a new tab)).
DIY 2 in. OC 703
Lowest cost
Build the frame and wrap it yourself. The bare board rates NRC 1.00 (data sheet (opens in a new tab)).
GIK FreeStand
$199 list
2 x 5 ft and 2 in. thick, it stands up on its own with no tools, NRC 1.05 (GIK (opens in a new tab)).
Those list prices are GIK's own, as of October 2026; how much acoustic panels cost covers other panels. If you rent and can't drill, the FreeStand is a good fit.
Watch out: No panel helps when the noise starts outside the bedroom. A 2 in. fiberglass panel weighs about 0.5 lb/sq ft (3.0 lb/cu ft x 2 / 12). That's less than a quarter of the 2.2 lb/sq ft in one layer of 5/8 in. drywall (opens in a new tab). Seal up the door, window and outlets first.
